Kool-seal, purchased at Lowes. I'm in TX, so I wasn't surprised when I didn't see a Snow-seal! As best I can tell, it's pretty much the same thing though.
What disturbs me about this stuff is how readily and cleanly it appears to be willing to separate from the Nylon in this instance.
Based on the reports I have read here and the test patch I did and also the information I saw on the can, I believed that it would be ready for use pretty quickly. There was a 48 hour lag between the last hull application and the incident today.
Perhaps it needed more curing time, but I would think that would reveal itself in easily abrading layers of paint - not by fully separating from the fabric. The separation causes me to doubt the penetration of that very first coat.
I'm wondering if that first coat needed to be thinned to half-strength. Or if a primer or other kind of pre-painting was in order.
I want this failure to be about the variables of application and not the ultimate worthiness of the product, because there is something so delicious about spending $15 for a can of paint that does the job well.
Thanks,
Wayne
