I didn't wash it, and this is the first I've heard of the possibility. I bought from Dyson, and he has a fairly detailed fact sheet that he sends out - nothing was mentioned there, and I would think he'd inform people of that.
However, at this point, I'm open to any ideas about what's gone wrong. Man, that thing was fun to paddle while I could!
