Same balistic nylon takes a water borne polyurethane very well. It would likely also have problems if there was an oil in the nylon problem.

Wayne, did you shrink the cloth by wetting it down and letting it dry before painting on the elastomeric coating?

And what temperature did you let it cure at? Was it below 50 degrees? I don't know where you are, but I see you are wearing a coat.
