Thanks John,
And thanks for getting together with us this weekend. It was nice to meet you and Reg and I'm glad that I got to see what you guys have been working on. Both of your guys' Redfish boats are outstanding.
For some background info., last week I posted on this board for the whereabouts of any other Whatcom County Washington builders and suggested that we tour each other's shops. It was a success, although it only included two other builders, I think we all had a great time. I met with John Skinner and Reg Lake at my house in Bellingham. We discussed some of my past projects, including my Chesapeake hybrid and several model kayaks and some recent carvings. Then we went to John's house and checked out his Guillemot and his current project- a Spring Run for his wife. Both incredible boats, the Guillemot has beautiful inlays on the hatch covers, but the Spring Run looks even better. With 3/16th inch strips of Cypress, Rosewood, and Birch vine inlays going up to what will be glass flower pedals, this boat will surely turn heads! Next we went to Reg's house and looked at his first boat, a Coho, and his current kayak, a Redfish King made with Peruvian Walnut and Yellow Cedar in a simple, but breathtaking design.
My thanks goes out to both of you, for taking some time to meet together and share what we have learned. I definetely got the feeling that we'll all be building kayaks for a long time to come, and hopefully continue to meet with each other to gain even more hints/tricks/tips and to paddle together in this great Pacific Northwest. Thanks guys.

Here's a pic of some of Reg and John's work. I'm sorry that I didn't bring my camera, these are not new pics. Enjoy.
