Hey Rick,

Congrats on getting started on the Guillemot!! I agree that it is a beautiful design with graceful curves.

I'm really glad to hear that the heat gun works well on the upsweep of the bow and stern. If you are being sucessful in these two areas, the rest of the boat will be a breeze. The chines are no problem at all with B&C strips.

I didn't know about the heat gun when I built my wife's Guillemot and my right thumb still suffers the pain of a torn tendon. I, like you, didn't want to use the cheater strips so I bent all the strips in place without the use of heat. But not again!! I have a new heat gun just waiting to be useful on my next boat.

I got my plans for the Guillemot "L" (MY yak) in the mail today so I'll be trying to get started in a few days. I don't seem to have a full head of steam these days but it WILL eventually get completed -- hopefully by next summer. I'll try a Pic but haven't been repetitively sucessfull at it.
