I'm glad to hear that they've worked for you. I've had nothing but trouble with them.

FWIW, I haven't had any trouble with Yakimas, but I have seen boats with them jammed up with sand. They have invariably been rep's demo boats that get abused to death and are never cleaned. My boats get a fair amount of crud in them, but I rinse them out before it gets bad.

Actually, I only have one boat that has foot braces in it. I usually take them out and use the bulkhead instead. I'll eventually do a "footbrace-ectomy" on the Pintail, too. Unfortunately, I need to keep the old foot braces in case I ever sell the boat(s). Hmmm, that reminds me that I need to put them back in the Recluse...
