if they require adjusting often in sandy conditions then the Keepers are much better. I've seen some Yakimas gunked up permananently. The keepers in my Mariner have never blown off and they have in other boats,,might be a function of thighbrace/hip bracing taking stress off footpegs in a well fitted boat. I've seen beginning paddlers blow yakimas off all the time while learning but they were confused where the effort was supposed to be.
