Rick,

I built a 15' Guillemot without cheater strips (shortening the boat exaggerates the bend at bow and stern) and without a heat gun. I used 5/8 WRC strips and didn't have any trouble. Well, not much anyway. I'd use the cheaters if I were doing it again though. It would make getting the keel and football right a whole lot easier.
