Whew! Thanks for asking this question now. I had assumed the only way to do this is to lay down the curvie pattern and then strip inbetween. It is very good to hear the opposite view, that it works best to strip the deck and then cut out the design...

I believe what I will do is to have a general idea about what design I will be doing... Then I will strip the deck, trying to make splices where I will be cutting out... Then I will lay the strip for the edge on the deck and scribe the line to be cut... cut it out, and then go for the strip lay down...
