...a Craftsman router & table and a Delta table top shaper.

As others have said, the router table is somewhat flimsy unless it's screwed to a solid base. The plastic fence isn't straight and it's hollow, so it deforms if you clamp anything to it (like featherboards). The grooves in the table are too shallow to accept standard slot mounted accessories (like featherboards). I've used it for edge rounding hardwood stock for SOF ribs and coamings and it works OK, but it's not great. All it all, you'd be much better off building your own or getting one of the kits from Rockler.

The shaper is much more substantial, as it has a 1/2" spindle vs. the 1/4" on the Craftsman router that's installed in the table. It will accept shaper cutters, 1/2" router bits and 1/4" router bits (with a collet adapter). The fence system is far superior and the table is much more rugged. It's a one-speed machine, but I could get around that with an inexpensive speed controller. The downside of the shaper is that it's a dedicated tool that's not as versatile as a router & table combo. Mine is also very loud. I only paid $75 for it used, so it was worth it, but I'd think twice before dropping $200-$300 on one. You can buy a really nice router and table for that kind of money.
