: I am at the point in my Guillemot expedition to cut the hatches into the
: deck. In Nicks book it says to wax the hatch cover to prevent the
: fiberglass lip from sticking to it. I am curious if there is a special wax
: required. Please help !?!

Epoxy, silicone, and lots of glues and paints just won't stick to slippery, oily or waxy surfaces. A hard wax or a paste wax like that used for polishing automobiles would work. If you don;t already have some on hand for your car, check for the cheapest stuff available at the local auto parts store.

Some people use Saran(r) Wrap stretched tight to remove all wrinkles as a barrier. It peels off of dried glues once they harden, but they won't penetrate it and glue the hatch in place. You can oil wax or oil the Saran if you wish.

There are also waterbased mold release materials which can be applied. Check the local craft shop and look in the area where they have materials for molding soaps or candles.

A thin film of grease would probably do the job, too. It is just more messy. Clean it all off with ammonia and/or detergent as soon as possible.
