I am in the process of glassing my hull and I have had some problems, the most recent one being the problem of fisheyes, or craters on the finish. It was not a problem after the first coat, but every subsequent try has resulted in this unsightly blemish. I am using MAS epoxy with the slow hardener. I have read several methods on finishing between coats, and I have sanded, then used ammonia and a green pad THEN fresh water to wash the ammonia off before starting. The ambient temp is about 70 deg in the garage. It seems the only thing I can do to get a relatively smooth surface is to wet sand with 600 grit sandpaper, but this does not seem to alleviate the craters completely. Could I wait until spring before attempting to corredt with more coats? I was reading the archives and it sounds like some kind of problem with amine blush, but with sanding and scrubbing with ammonia in a pan of water and a green scrub pad AND a wash with fresh water would cure this. Any help would be really apreciated as I want a SMOOTH finish.
