: A few days ago I was given a Rockwell Beaver Lathe #3400.Along with a box
: full of chisels. All the parts seem to be there ,except wood for a table
: and shelf. There are metal legs but nothing for the lathe and motor to sit
: on.
: Anybody know where I can get an instuction manual or operation guide?

: There must be kayak stuff I can make with this lathe. Maybe a new set of
: camping plates..

: Thanks again Terry

Terry,

Rehd has given you good advice.

Be viglilant in weighting down your lathe. The more mass, the better. Go to the local tire replacement store. They may give you an old rubber inner tube. Cut this and put it under the legs of your stand. The mass, and the rubber, will help to give you an almost vibration free system. This is necessary for good work.

Also, check out your tools. My first were bargain basement types. I did reasonably 'good' work on them for a while. Now I use these tools to plant things out of doors. Buy good steel! Learn how to sharpen (R. Raffan has an excellant video out. Available through F. Woodworking.)

Also check out the specs. between headstock and tail, for bedding, etc.
