Pattern flyer or just fun flying?
I played with fun flying and then got into 1/4 scale Pylon Racing ( building mostly ). We had a couple of pilots already. Flew under the name of Bandit Racing. Mostly warbirds, 47's, T-6's, and a couple of unlimiteds, but I didn't mess with those. 200 mph+ and near 9-G turns. Lots of carbon fiber and glass in those foam wings. Got out about 10 years ago when the price of planes got over $10,000 - $20,000 and only the sponsored teams could afford them.
They didn't mind piling up or mid-airing with theirs, it killed me when one of mine went down.
Fun hobby, but a bit pricy now-a-days.
Have fun!
I may get back into fun flying some day, but it's hard to do that without getting bit by the competition bug.

P.S... How about the coffee table ? Spare bedroom??
