: I think it's a great topic for this group; I was mainly trying to open up
: more resources. I see now that you know a lot on this topic already... I
: don't always get it right. What about carving a half-model? I think a 1/4
: or 1/8 scale model could yield a good level of detail. One way to go
: anyhow.
Hi Chip
I'm no good with a computer and those wonderful programs totally escape me, so I am very interested in going with the Half-Model system. I can read up on the different ideas of hull shape and incorporate them in a half model and take all the measurements off that to transfer to graph paper. I have at least 5 more boats to build before attempting that though. Might be something to work on in the evenings when just sitting around. ( no t.v., no V.C.R., no spouse, read all the books and even one on halfmodels, so what's a guy to do? )
What I'm worried about is comeing up with something similar to the big designers and having a problem with them. ?? I mean, there's only so many different ideas on shape and then you start stepping on others toes. How many designs are there left out there that haven't been tried. ???
The only thing I can figure is to show all documentation, ( the why's, when's and wherefore's ), pictures of progress and finished product.
Still, the thought of doing it the old fashioned way IS intruiging. ??
