With many Thanks to the Board. I launched my first SOF today
It is a Greenland from Robert Morris' book.
It doesn't have much initial stability but real good secondary.
I tried to follow the instructions but I did make some mistakes.The foot brace is too far forward and the depth to shear is about 2 1/2 " too much.I weigh 180 and I bet I could put another 180 lbs in and still have lots of freeboard!!

Aside from this its a blast to paddle.

The cost to build was unbelievable, wood $35 ,canvas $27 1/2 gal latex paint free. Thats it and even Can. dollars.!!!

The biggest suprise was using latex paint. The wrinkles in the canvas virtually disappeared before my eyes. I was in the water for over an hour and not a drop inside.

Thats my happy story.To those that have built a SOF its probably old news but if you are lurking and wondering about starting GO FOR IT. You won't find a better hobby if you enjoy working with your hands and being onthe water..
