: Sounds like either redwood or one of the other cedar spp. I'd guess the
: possibilities are: 1. redwood, Sequoia sempervirens, heartwood (not
: sapwood) from a mature tree. If it is this, it'll be relatively light in
: weight, stiffer then the WRC you're used to, and somewhat harder then
: cedar.
: 2. Eastern red cedar, Juniperus virginiana, looks like redowwd but generally
: has a pile of knots...or should I say knots with a little straight grain
: 3. Western red cedar, Thuja plicata, but grown in a different locale? Maybe
: older or plantation grown?

I'm not sure what it is but, It looks good. I think I will keep it under glass (fiber) and maybe just call it "Rhedwood"
