I wish I could remember what I told Shawn Baker about that recently. But as I remember I think I found his method fairly close without stretching the ball of your foor out. I moved the foot brace toward the cockpit about 2 inches compared with the last one.

I think being that your building the boat for your son you should consider making the dimension for length a little big. My son is 13 and growing daily it seems. He's currently going through skates, snow board boots and boats in less than a years time. I had to cut the foot braces out of his boat before the rendezvous and move them just so he could paddle it. I'll have to pull the minicell bulkhead and replace it with plywood next in order to gain another 3". The next step after that is a new boat. But that's not a bad thing, is it?
