extending on this, a simpler, more functional way would be to use a loop instead of a single line. and this loop should be long enough to reach the cockpit so you don't have to bend over. the near end would be best to go around something.

tie a butterfly loop say every 12 in along half the line and attach the buckles or straps on each consecutive pc of luggage on the line.

pull them all in, then pull them all out. the hatch would have a slight groove at the bottom perimeter gasket so will compress ok there. (form it to exact fit w/ say silicone)

to be totally stupid, say you put a jam cleat near the i/s seat say on c/l. Say the hatch was circular and slightly conical like a toilet valve.

Say you drilled a hole thru the ctr of the hatch and it fixed to the conical end just like all the luggage and if your bow is 5 ft from the hatch that it was tied off 4'10" from the first butterfly loop.

then pull on the line and all the luggage AND hatch slides into the bow compartment and you pull and jam the line and the hatch is sealed on too.

pull the other side and everything comes out.

now this probably wont work unless the cover is fairly conical, and the last pce of luggage can allow the line to ctr somewhat. but it MIGHT work.
