: I'm going stapleless on my kayak, and have a query about hot glue. Several on
: this forum have said not to use white hot glue, but the yellow. What is
: the difference? Does white not release as easily as yellow. My problem is
: that yellow does not seem to have arrived down under; at least I can't
: find any on Tasmania. Thanks for any advice
More than the color, the important issue is that the hot glue
be designed to work with wood. Here in the US, most of the hot
glue for woodworking is yellow/tan in color.
Hot glue is not going to have any real holding power on any tape.
I have many years of experience using hot glue. I can only conclude
that the people using tape and hot glue did not need much holding
power in the first place.
I use hot glue on bare plywood stations.
All the best,
Rob
