: Ha! I figured someone would pick that up :-) Yes and no. They are blow ups of
: the MacMillan kayak in Mark Starr's book. I had been playing with the
: model idea (just a frame, no skin), but haven't really decided to do it
: yet. Pretty hard working with those tiny little stringers and ribs! I
: think it would make a nice full size boat, but would need to be
: substantially wider for me :-) I believe the original was 17" . I've
: also been thinking of Harvey's latest reproductions in Sea Kayaker for
: models, but don't know if I really have the time for that right now.

1/4 scale SOf get a little tricky. I'm working on on Mr Brincks Aleute kayak in 1/4 scale. It'll have 45 ribs. Let me say that again... "It'll have 45 ribs!"

1/3 scale would be better for SOF just because the wood will be a little more stabile. I'm having a tough time keeping the gunwales straight. Right noe I've got weights on them to hold them in place.

A Walrus would do well as a 1/4 scale model. Having the frame built on forms is a real bonus for such a project.
