: I also have some question on glassing the boat. I’m thinking of using System
: Three Clear Coat to wet out the cloth and then fill the weave with the
: standard System Three with the #1 or #2 hardener. I imagine I can use the
: #1 fast hardener as the cloth will be down and application should go
: quick.
: Or should I use the clear coat through out or the standard epoxy using the #2
I have done two boats with the standard epoxy and the fast (#1) and mdeium (#2) hardner, A) don't ever try to wet the cloth with the fast hardner, unless you are needing to wear a parka in your shop. It will start to gell out while you are still getting all of the wrinkels out. FIll coats go much faster thus are able to go with fast hardner.
If I were to go back and do it again, I might do the wet out and possible the seal coat with the clear coat. (supposidly this is much better for the lighter fabrics as well) I've been told that trying to do fill coats with the clear coat is pretty futile (guy at fiberlay said "as usefull as pushing a rope") it's too thin to get any usefull millage, and by the time you get enough on to do anyting, it will run and dribble all over the place.
