The hatches are S&G and came with the kit. The seal is a soft rubber many ridged weather stripping about 1/4 in. wide and 1 mm thick that is contact cemented on. There are two rows of strippingm, one on the edge of the hatch and one on the edge of the opening. The seal is very effective so far. I have not had the opportunity to test it in high seas but I can hope to do that next summer. I can't wax the skis yet (x-c) coz the snow melted yet the river remains iced up :( . I guess there is always some good downhill at Jasper or Lake Louise ;) I cuold also spend the winter rebuilding the old kayak. :)
