Sorry to hear about your fisheyes but what is kayak building without a little adventure?
There are products that are made specially to strip wax from skis, you might want to check them out if some of the household products don't work, some of them have natural product bases eg lemon, others are more harsh. The usual caveat here though, a test panel is always a good idea.
