I have used ammonia many times to remove wax, it does work, although you don't need to use it full strength, about 50/50 ammonia and water is enough...test a small area and adjust the mixture. I have used it for that very purpose many times, there are wax removers you can get at most hardware stores to but ammonia will do it. whatever you use , be carefull and keep us updated on that contraption..it's cool!
