Hi Roger. My sheer clamps have always just been 1x1s and it didn't matter which side was which; that's what is confusing me. I guess, if you're mitering the two sheer clamps together at each end then that would mess it up. The compound miter is optional; you can just trim that part off and let the clamps stop short of the bow/stern and then do end pours into those spaces. The rubrails are optional and can be added last. What design are they building.
