My plan for making the combing is to mill the individual "C" shaped pieces, the same width as the deck stripping and also some wedged shaped pieces...I'll glue the pieces in to match the strips on the bow of the kayak and use the wedge shaped pieces to achieve the curve around the circumference of the cockpit..overall I dont think it will be that hard, just time consuming.

Instead of cutting each "C" shaped piece individually with my band saw..I'm thinking of cutting up the pieces in square blocks and gluing them together making 2' long 3"x3" 's (or whatever dimension it will be) and the milling the entire lengths of wood the shape I want, then slicing it back up into individual pieces to make up the combing, then like I said, use the wedges (in the same "C" shape) to make it curve around the cockpit, matching the wood color as i work around it.
That's just an idea..I still have a few months before I get to that point, maybe I can figure out the best way to do it before then..I'm definately going to try it.
