if there are more than 2 students, just exchange that side w/ another student.

otherwise use the heat method. Do not put on rub rails if you think the students will become avid yakkers. - no good for rolling and pinching hazard.

if getting off is unsightly, paint a 1" wide sheerline on.

if you want to get fancy, score the sheerline at the sheerclamp, remove withe the top layer of veneer and put in another nice veneer strip for a sheer.

or if one of the students is small, reduce the sheer by 1" and modify the deck to suit.
