You know, from time to time a dead whale is spotted offshore and when it's announced, a couple buds and I get in the boat and sail out to it, stay upwind, and look for scavenging by white sharks, while staying upwind. Being upwind, we have yet to see a white going to it, but in our upwind position, we have noticed sizeable chunks missing from one whale several years back, a California Gray Whale. Hung out upwind most of the afternoon and into the early evening and finally left not seeing any activity.

BTW: you'll notice my notation of being upwind...trust me, it's extremely important!
