No doubt you will figure this out for yourself , since you asked though you will want the masik height to be at least the same height as the deck beam where the rear of the hoop rests. This will put the coaming in a level plane. Make sure your paddle can clear the coaming. Paddle clearance depends on a number of things like the depth to sheer of the kayak, the height of the coaming hoop itself, height of the seat and paddler size as well. Keeping these parameters in mind you can try different size temporary forms to get just the height you want.
