: you will want the masik height to be at least the same height as the deck
: beam where the rear of the hoop rests. This will put the coaming in a
: level plane. Make sure your paddle can clear the coaming. Paddle clearance
: depends on a number of things like the depth to sheer of the kayak, the
: height of the coaming hoop itself, height of the seat and paddler size as
: well. Keeping these parameters in mind you can try different size
: temporary forms to get just the height you want.
I believe the top of my masik is about 4" above the plane of the gunwales. I could use it a little higher, but it is pretty close to right.
