I just made some new knee braces out of minicell and coated them with a spray on rubber coating. The stuff I used is made by Rust-oleum. It's called Grip & Gaurd. I sprayed on about 7 coats and it gave a firm and durable surface. It goes on really nice and has a nice looking finish. Maybe this will work for your seat too.
