: Their next two materials in weigh are: ( from Dyson )

: 12 oz. Nylon & 13 oz. Polyester

I used the 12 oz ballistic nylon from Dyson and found it really easy to work with. It formed well around all the curves in the boat so I didn't need to sew in any darts, and it didn't take gorilla fingers to pull it tight. The shrinking was painless, soaked it down with hot water and put it in the sun for an hour, boom drum tight.

The only two problems I had were the stitch holes opened up enough they were a problem to seal (I'm guessing this is the same with most fabrics) and I had a problem getting full saturation of the fabric (not sure if this was the density of the weave or the thickness of the polyurethane). Next time I won't hesitate to use this fabric again, but I will thin the first coat to maximize the saturation of the fabric.

P.S. I was impressed with the toughness. I dropped the boat about 3 feet onto a sharp rock. I was heart broken imagining a 6-inch slice in the bottom. I wasn't even scratched!
