Greetings:
I had an idea for finishing that I wanted to run past you all. I wish to leave most of my Mill Creek 13 bright, but thought a painted stripe along the edges of the deck and around the coaming would be nice. Here's a method I dreamed up:
Coat the bare wood with a preliminary coat of epoxy. Sand it smooth, then paint the stripe. Cover the deck with cloth and epoxy as usual. This way the stripe would be protected by the fiberglass cladding, and possibly look pretty cool because it has "depth" to it.
Will it work?
I plan to test it out on scrap wood as soon as I get my epoxy, 'glass cloth, etc. in hand, but thought perhaps someone else has already tried it. Heck, I have seen lots of "decoupaged" decorations suggested in the literature; could this be all that different?
