Dittos to what Shawn has said... Even if you rent a big band saw on occasion, a small benchtop bandsaw is still a wonderful tool all the way through the building process. I used it hundreds of times for this last kayak just to trim the angles on the ends of the strips. I could have used a pull saw, but it would have taken hundreds of extra minutes.

My large tools include table saw, bandsaw, drill press and planer. The planer saw some use with building strips, though a nice carbide tip blade on the table saw makes this much less necessary than an old steel blade. The drill press saw almost no use.

My small power tools used a lot include a battery 3/8 drill, a ROS, a heat gun, a hand-held orbital jig saw, a router and homemade table.
