I think the one thing I have used more than anything is my vacuum. Not only has it made things less dusty for me, but it has helped me keep the others in the house supporting the project. I would also say you'd want to have the best hand plane you can afford. I have worked my way up from a reasonably cheap, no-frills plane to a much nicer one and the difference is amazing. I'd also look at a good sharpening system to keep everything nice and sharp.
