In my first kayak I installed some similar sliding seat. I have the ridge with holes in it. This ridge is very uncomfortable(literally APITA) and inconvienient(?) and I will remove it when I rebuild the whole seat setup. I have learned my lesson and on my later kayaks I mount my wooden seats with bungee-loops. One small ridge on either side fix the seat sideways and if I want to adjust the seat I can prolong the support to the aft hatch. Ofcourse I have adjusted the seat location properly in advance.
