: Hey Tom, what do you think about fiberglass tube? There is a righteous
: assortment available from these guys: http://www.mgs4u.com/fiberg.htm

Since I've never worked with fiberglass tubing for this type application, I
don't feel qualified to discuss it's feasibility. "FirstLight" Kayaks of New
Zealand use Carbon Kevlar stringers on their production folders, and I
believe they initially offered fiberglass stringers as a less expensive option.
So, it would appear that it's doable.

: BTW, where did you find 3/4 X .049 ( 6061-T6) aluminum at $1.00 per foot? It
: goes for 2 or 3 times that around here.

"Dyson, Baidarka, and Company", in Bellingham Wa. sell 3/4" X .049
tubing at $1.00 ft.

In Denver, I can get about the same price ( $1.05 ft) if I buy in
volume (150ft + )from "Tube Service Inc." They also sell 3/4 X .035
at $.85 ft.

Thanks for the info.

Tom
