: I attempted to vacuum bag a Greenland paddle using my dust collector. I used
: pink building foam for the blank. The foam was a success, but my dust
: collector was not able to pull enough vacuum. I now have a vacuum pump,
: but haven't had a chance to try it again. I used spray adhesive to
: laminate layers of foam togther to form the paddle blank. I roughed it out
: on my bandsaw and used sandpaper to sand to shape. Shaping the foam was
: easy enough by hand. Don't know how the surfboard foam is shaped.

Your Shop Vac will do in a pinch. Be careful you don't overheat it, though--it needs airflow to cool itself.

I VB'ed a seat with my Shop Vac last month--let a little leak where the hose met the bag for airflow. It was also 40*F in my shop, so not real hot on the shop vac. I heated the VB'ing seat with a hair dryer (careful not to trip a breaker!) to get the epoxy to kick. Only took 20 minutes.
