: Your Shop Vac will do in a pinch. Be careful you don't overheat it,
: though--it needs airflow to cool itself.
: I VB'ed a seat with my Shop Vac last month--let a little leak where the hose
: met the bag for airflow. It was also 40*F in my shop, so not real hot on
: the shop vac. I heated the VB'ing seat with a hair dryer (careful not to
: trip a breaker!) to get the epoxy to kick. Only took 20 minutes.

The hair drier is a good idea. Actually, I was using my Jet dust collector not a shop vac. I think a shop vac would work better. The dust collector moves a lot of air, but I don't think it has the suction of a shop vac. I could be wrong. I don't own one. The vacuum pump I have is rated for continuous duty and I don't think it needs air moving through. I'll try again soon. I need to remove the layer of glass from the foam or at least the glass along the edges. On the flats, the glass was pulled tight, but the glass didn't conform to the edges of the foam. I was trying to build the Helsinki Museum Aleut paddle. I've made one from wood and I really like it compared to the Greenland paddle I made from the Chuck Holst plans. The Aleut has more power, but the Holst is not a bad paddle.
