: How's the scratch resistance? Notice any differnce over varnish?

It's not as glossy as varnish. Huge difference in scratch resistance, way better. I'm going to sand off the Captains Varnish on my Storm and use the LPU topcoat (that I should have applied in the first place) before next season. We used two strippers side by side this summer, one with the LPU and one with Captains Spar Varnish. The durability of the Varnish wasn't even close to the LPU.
