Best solution to filling staple holes ....

Don't use staples! If you can't avoid it, sounds like Jon has come up with a good plan. I had only a few places I was forced to use staples (actually brads) and used the Durhams as well. Came out OK, but was glad they were in less visible areas.

A process I've read about, but did not use was working with the wood to close up the holes before filling. THis supposedly works with WRC, but not sure about other woods. Use hot/warm water to expand wood & raise fibers. Again, not sure if this really works. It's definitely no fun trying to hide those things! THis site's FULL of resources to help avoid the use of staples.
