Ted
I surely believe it was better in person. I surely hope it's pine...I would guess sugar pine. The 1/8 inch pin-sripes...too cool!
I'm thinking about a redwood hull, walnut from the sheer up a way, a pin-stripe of white stuff, then a pin of purpleheart, then a deck of white like a field of fresh snow. Cockpit cutdown of white stuff, coaming of white stuff, too. A solid walnut bow like the mahogany one somebody had posted for the deck to but against, a solid walnut stern. Inside, carbon fiber for contrast and stiffness. What do you think?
Also, I think those flush deck fittings just won't do it: they hang down inside like stalagtites making loading gear frustrating for a guy like me. Also going to put a hatch on the forward bulkhead just to make tweaking the foot pegs and rudder easier. I'm not sure about the magnets...too many waves I've punched through that have stripped things off magically. Thought about the rudder with foot controls versus rudder with a lever versus a skeg versus no rudder. Still can't decide.
Almost done with the design though...
