I think you will find a couple ( maybe more ) reasons for this.

First: the word CHEAP brings somewhat less than desirable connotations to mind for some.

Second: Some folks will buy whatever is close and they can get right away.

Third: maybe some folks have used their brand for a long time and just don't want to change. Would take some getting used to with different mixture rates and setting times.
I went on a several week search around the area and along the coast from where I am and found that the only thing I could get was West System in Santa Cruz area. The price was higher than I'd heard others mentioning and it's a 5 to 6 hr drive there and back on top of that. I heard about US composites and RAKA about the same time and RAKA came up first on the computer so that's where I went. And, it took less than a week to get here.

I'm sure there are more reasons but those would probably be the most prevalent.
A friend of mine here local builds canoes and uses a lot of epoxy and he gets a deal from I think West System. Thought he might come over to RAKA, but haven't had him over to play with my epoxy yet. It certainly is thinner than his.
