The Madisonville Wooden Boat Show is usually held around the last weekend in September. Madisonville is on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Last year, 2001, there were about a dozen canoes and kayaks. This year, the show had to be rescheduled due to a hurricane, so the turnout of canoes and kayaks was disappointing.
