: The first deck strip at the shear looks like it will be hard to fit.
: Midships seems no problem but to the bow it looks like the strip turns 90
: degrees between form 3 and 2. Not sure if a rolling bevel will work?
I went about this a bit differently. I left a gap at the sheer midships of about two strip-widths (actually, since I knew I would be putting a lot of bevel on these strips the gap was maybe one-and-a-half widths. Then I put a full width strip on the deck, but brought this out to the bow and stern completely flat. ie. I didn't twist it much at all, but it was the flat of the strip, not an edge, which mated with the hull sheer strip. I then filled in the gap between this strip and the hull with strips tapered and bevelled. I reckoned it was a lot easier to fit to a gap which I could see and measure... However, I'll admit that it ended up being pretty fiddly, 'cos you end up with very thin bits of wood with a triangular cross-section which are a real pain to hold whilst planing them down. If I was doing it again, I would not make the deck completely flat at the bow and stern, but would have a bit of a ridge, so that I could fit strips conventionally without imposing a huge twist on them. This is basically what I'm planning to do with the deck on my Hybrid Cormorant 466 which I've just started.
