Brian--
Why not switch to scarf joints? It will shorted your outrigger hulls by about 4 inches. I'm guessing that you're using something like 4mm ply. So a 12:1 scarf would be 48mm long or approximately 2 inches. It sounds like you have 2 joints over the length of each outrigger. Cut the butt joints apart, grind the 'glass and epoxy off and plane 12:1 bevels on the ends, they epoxy them back together the way God intended, with true scarf joints.
