Kurt,

Hmmmmm, my experience differs quite a bit from some of the other posts here. I didn't keep track, but I'm pretty sure I spent $50 - $60 (or more) on sandpaper of various sorts. Most of that was on ROS discs. I also used a lot of PSA sandpaper. The PSA stuff is great for sticking to fairing boards or other "special" sanding jigs. I always buy in bulk (50 disk boxes, 10 yard PSA rolls) from a couple of local woodworking specialty stores. They are also many, many times cheaper than the 5-disk packs you'll find at the local HD. I do a lot of other woodworking so they never go to waste.

Note that there are two schools of sandpaper use. One school holds that sandpaper is expensive. Folks in that school use a disk until it's worn smooth as a baby's behind. The other school (to which I belong) believes that time is more important, and we switch out sandpaper whenever it just begins to dull.

FYI, the included link shows most of the various sanding tools I used. The belt-sander was shy and didn't want its picture taken. I also used a bowl-sanding tool in a hand drill for the concave interior, but I didn't buy that until after this picture was taken.

Randy
