Hey Shawn,
I'm not sure what it weighs as I don't have a scale, but I also would like to know. I'll see if I can find a way to get it done and let you know. I do know that the oak feels almost twice as heavy as the WRC that I used. It has a nice look to it but I'm not sure its worth the added pounds. Its a real shame that its not on top where it can be seen but with its weight compared to the other woods that I used, I was afraid the boat would want to be paddled inverted! In fact, if Lisa ever flips over she may suffer from whiplash caused by the boat righting itself!
I'm not using oak on the "L" that I'm working on now(tho'I do have some oak strips milled). I want to keep it a little lighter but I'm not planning on skimping on the glass, especially around the cockpit area. But, if I don't break my addiction to the cpu and the kbbb I'm never gonna get it built!
Happy Building.
Charles.
