Hey Chip,
I too am back from a long winter break, but mine included all of the above activities plus a little boat building (ok, quite a bit). Finally got started on the Cirrus. I'm also building the "deck-frame" for my Cirrus model, the hull of which is finished and I've been carving more laminated blanks into kayak models(sorry, no photos yet). It's really nice to have had some time off from work to spend with the family/kids and still fit in as much build time as possible.
I'm impressed with your rudder idea, it should work great. How adaptable is it to attach your electric motor? Are you planning on using a motor with this boat, or will you just use the rudder?
Anyway, you're right. It is great to spend some quality time in the shop after the busy season. Now I'm back at work and am looking forward for next years Christmas break. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see photos of that boat completed. Gorgeous.
